Revenge...Usually Best Served Warm

Michael Bloomberg once said, "The best revenge is to live well." With the new Vitale Barberis Canonico's Revenge you will indeed live well and make your colleges green with envy. The Revenge Super 130's fabrics have been produced in just a handful of regions in Australia and the wool is the result of strict breeding regimes and meticulous preparations.

The health of the flock is essential, with some wool growers even putting protective covers on the sheep to save them from enviromental pollutions.

Only about 1,600 bales of this exclusive wool are offered for sale each season in Australia, and VITALE BARBERIS CANONICO is the largest buyer.

The suiting fabrics tailor and wear superbly. The "REVENGE" range is a collection for the most discerning gentleman. The colors and style are timelessly elegant and are ideal for finely tailored suits, blazers and trousers.

22 Karat Gold Pinstipes...Golden Treasure

In line with its tradition of luxury and exclusivity, Scabal has developed Gold Treasure, a fabric made from 22 carat gold and fine count Super 150's, from a rare bale of 15.5 micron Australian Merino wool.
It represents not only the finest English craftsmanship, but is a genuine treasure trove, as its only decoration is 22 carat gold.

The production process took a long time to get a perfect result. The aim was to produce a cloth that represented not only a superb piece of craftsmanship but would also offer the reliability and performance qualities that are such an important factor in modern fabric and yarn technology.

This precious cloth comes in classic dark shades of black, charcoal and navy blue so that the brilliance of the gold threads is set off against the dark background shades and immediately becomes the focus of attention.
As a result of the complex production process and very fine yarn count, Gold Treasure will only be available in limited quantities to a very exclusive clientele.

Another Great Gift for The Distinguished Gentleman...

NEW “EXPRESSION”: THE LUXURY OF RARE FIBRES ~Scabal has introduced Expression, a Super 200’s blended with Vicuna and Chinchilla 240g, now one of the finest suiting cloths in the Scabal collection. Fine looking, beautifully soft to the touch and with a natural drape that keeps well during use, Expression appeals through its elegance and the luxurious softness of rare fibres.

Traditional weaving techniques Ultra fine 13-micron Super 200’s Merino wool forms the basis of this new cloth. Using advanced spinning technology, Scabal has blended it with Vicuna and Chinchilla fibres, highly valued for their rarity and exceptional softness. “Not only is Expression one of the finest cloths available, it has also been developed to assist the tailor during the various stages of garment making” says Michael Day, Chief Designer at Scabal. “It offers tailors the support and drape required in the creation of a luxury garment; attributes often forgotten in other fine cloths today.”

“These precious, delicate fibres have been blended by the best weavers in our own Yorkshire mill in the heart of England’s textile industry. Their work is still based on the traditional techniques used by our ancestors.”

To complete the traditional processes, Scabal has applied a “London Shrunk” finish to blend the fibres followed by an original “Paper Press”, a highly-skilled pressing method applied as the final treatment, giving the cloth a rich lustrous finish.

Rare fibres

Scabal selected Vicuna and Chinchilla as the finishing touches to Expression because of their exceptional rarity and softness. Revered by Inca royalty, Vicuna hair has always been sought for its delicate fleeciness - so much so, that the small and agile camel was almost hunted to extinction in its native Andes highlands. Now under protection, Vicuna numbers have made a dramatic recovery, especially in Peru.

Scabal’s imported Vicuna wool is supported by CITES (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species) certification, guaranteeing that the wool is truly a licensed original product, a scarce attribute in today’s competitive market.

Chinchillas are small rodents which also live high up in the Andes region. They too have been hunted almost to extinction for their exceptionally fine and valuable hair.

Expression is available from June 2010 in 14 elegant soft-stripe and plain designs. In addition to classical dark shades of grey and blue, Scabal has widened worldwide appeal with lighter shades of blue and beige.

Diamonds...A Great Gift for the Distinguished Gentleman

Perhaps men are not so easily seduced by jewelery, but they will certainly appreciate this tailor-made gem of a suit. For all the men out there who insist upon a “Rolls Royce” suit, Scabal has designed a cloth which incorporates diamond fragments. This new fabric range, which has been christened “Diamond Chip”, comes in a variety of patterns and colours.

Anyone who mentions luxury suits, automatically thinks of Scabal. Constantly striving for innovation, Scabal created in 2001 the first cloth containing diamond fragments, entitled “Diamond Chip”. This involved a great deal of research and development. After all, it was not Scabal's intention to design a museum piece, but instead to design a cloth that could be turned easily into a stylish and elegant suit.

The diamond chips are processed into the cloth as soon as the wool has been cleaned and combed. Microscopically small diamond fragments are then spread on the wool, and it is only then that the wool is spun. The result is a shiny thread to be woven into exceptional fabrics. The latter not only shine literally and figuratively, but they also feel comfortable and hang beautifully. Scabal never sacrifices comfort for the sake of beauty.

The cloth consists of a Super 150's wool (80 %) – into which diamond fragments have been processed – and pure silk (20 %). Once again, the cloth is being woven at Scabal's own weaving-mill in Huddersfield (UK).

The subtle grey, brown, and blue tints, the woven stripy patterns and the semi-plain patterns do perfect justice to the sparkling diamonds. Ideal for men who like celebrating in sheer luxury.

The “Diamond Chip” collection is available at Stitched Custom Clothing. The fabric is packaged as befits a true jewel, that is to say, in a luxury box with its own “Diamond Chip” fabric label. The quallity guarantee statement “Scabal – Super 150's – Silk with diamond fragments – made in England” is woven into the selvedge of the fabric. No Place Like Home...

There is no better place to trend spot than NYC...

Regardless of the store, the overall feel was elegant sophistication with a lack of fussiness.

At Zegna, suits definitely dominated the landscape... clean and simple...no ticket pockets or pic stitching. Trim silhouettes with slightly wider lapels... the shoulder is a soft natural look with a pagoda style expression. The trousers were clean flat fronts with 3/8" loops with 1 3/4" cuffs.

Elegant textured shirtings were featured with wide spreads. Also prominent were tight stripes in bold colors..

Many Sport Coats were featured with open patch pockets with a heavy emphasis on layering.

The neckwear was decidedly subtle across the board allowing the suit or jacket to make the statement.

The trends in Outerwear were the most exciting. Double-breasted pea coats were everywhere paired with jeans as well as car coats. Dressier Top Coats are all shown worn above the knee. The coat above features an inverted pleat on an open patch pocket.

Let these become the foundation for your styling this Fall/Winter season.

Ermenegildo Zegna-Stitched Custom Clothing Presents...Money For Nothing

Money for Nothing is a 1993 film directed by Ramón Menéndez. It is based on the life of Joey Coyle, an unemployed longshoreman in Philadelphia who, in February 1981, found $1.2 million in the middle of the street after it had fallen out of the back of an armored car. While supplies last, Stitched Custom Clothing, a leading provider of luxury custom clothing individually and specifically for many high-profile clients in the sports and entertainment industries as well as senior management executives is now providing the "fallen out of the back of an armored car" sale for Ermenegildo Zegna Cloths for the holidays.

"We may not be talking millions of 'hard' dollars saved but we will sure make you feel like a millionaire when wearing one of our custom garments. We may not be talking literally about things falling out the back of an armor truck either, but you will feel like you hit the jackpot!" says Marco Polo, SCC's principal designer.

Marco also says, "We realize that many of our clients are trying to do more with less and we feel this is a perfect way to help. If we can leverage our relationships with our fabric mills create a program or have a product that will somehow give you the same, if not better quality and cost our client considerably less to do it, then what we are doing is giving our clients the ability to use their resources in another area where they may not have had the opportunity to do so before."

For a limited time only Stitched Custom Clothing will be offering a reduced priced for all its high-end Ermenegildo Zegna Fabrics for its custom clothing customers. Typically off the rack Zegna suits in a fine men's department store will range anywhere from $2,400.00 and more, SCC will be providing the same fabric, custom tailored to your individual measurements for only $1,595.00. Nearly, $1,000.00 less.

One other unique element to SCC's business model is clients can shop in the comvenience of their office or in the comfort of their homes. SCC has sales reps in major metropolitan areas across the US that will come to your location and take the hassle and anxiety out of finding time to go to department store. Sales reps also carry many other fabrics to assist clients who would like to create a wardrobe for any season.

When you think about Ermenegildo Zegna you must first know that these suits are exclusively produced using the finest raw materials carefully selected on their markets of origin: merino wool in Australia, mohair in South Africa, cashmere in Inner Mongolia and silk in China.

These precious materials are then transformed by the know-how technology and creativity of Ermenegildo Zegna into cloths which reflect the "Italian Style" at its best.

These cloths are designed and molded into finely crafted suitings and sports jackets for the increasingly demanding clientele and the evolution of taste in the field of fashion wear.

We encourage you to explore in more detail, The Stitched Experience...

Why Every Man Needs His OWN Tuxedo...

Why Every Man Needs a Tuxedo in his closet. Based on a true story and actual events. My tuxedo experience is reminiscent to my trip to Switzerland. It was the first of many trips out of the country. At the last minute someone informs me that I need a passport. I had to run to the post office and pay 4 x the normal price to get the passport expedited to me in 4 days. But it was necessary. Two years ago I was invited to a Black Tie event around the Thanksgiving holiday. I had to fly to Charleston, SC to attend this event with some of the more prominent, well-established people in the Charleston area. If you’ve ever heard the saying don’t starve in a grocery store, I think it was meant for me. I make custom tailored clothes for a number of different clients and they have dubbed me, “the tailor to the stars.” However, I often find myself serving my clients so much that I tend to forget about myself.

Like my passport, I find myself at the last minute scrambling to get a tuxedo. No time to make one for myself. I run frantically all over the city to get fitted for a tuxedo. Finally, I find a location that can help me. Get measured, pick out the tux and off on the plane to Charleston. Everything is good…so I think…

On the night of the event, I’m getting dressed for the event and the pants are too short, too tight and it is the wrong jacket. Who is wearing 4-button suits these days anyway? Why do they even have them as options? On top of that, wearing a garment that someone else has had or where it has been gives me the creeps still to this day.

Although I was in panic mode, my wife was amused by the whole ordeal. In fact she told me it was good to see me in unfamiliar territory by not having it all together. I was humiliated and embarrassed. I was glad the event was in the evening. This was my way to make sure little could be seen. I sat at the table of this event, kept my feet under the table and refused to move the entire night until it was time to go home.

The moral of the story is tuxedos are like passports. You will only use it once in a while but it is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Trust me on this one.

Invest in your own tuxedo
You will probably save money in the long run when you think how often you rent one versus the one you invest in. Take the worry out of what and where the garment has been before it gets into your hands.

Buck the Trends
You know the saying, “KISS, Keep it simple stud!”…If you are going to spend your hard earned dollars you want to make sure it will be worth your while. Stick with a one or two button jacket. Only, if you have more than one, you can then be courageous by adding different touches like a Mohair fabric or Velvet jackets, etc.

Conservative or A little Pop?
For a little pop we recommend the peak lapel. All tuxedos get their flair from the satin finishes so the peak lapel showcases the most visibility followed by the shawl and notch lapels. Again, stay away from being trendy so in my opinion the shawl lapel is out. If you have to go with the shawl lapel you need to make sure you get a narrower lapel.

Enjoy the holiday events and make sure you DRESS WELL, the rest is up to you.

Resurrecting The Champ-The Return of the Sports Jacket

Bring it on! Sports jackets are making a significant comeback and they are doing it with a new class and powerhouse force.

Never underestimate the infamous saying, “What goes around comes around”.  It was 1988 when Marco Polo of Stitched Custom Clothing wore his last sport coat before this year. There are two major reasons for this resurrection:

First, fashion forward men enjoy showing their creative side by mixing, matching and bringing it all together in a casual and yet sharp flair. The infamous and classic, Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney have regained their popularity as well. In my opinion, they pioneered the suit separates and made them look good.

Secondly, the more suitable reason. Versatility or you may hear the words multi-functional. In this economic climate people want more for their dollar spent and still with plenty of versatility.

Buy a sports jacket and create three distinctive outfits.
  1. Throw it on with a pair of jeans when traveling to a near or distance land. In the morning in New York and in the evening in Florida. When shooting pool with the boys or dinner date with the lady. It still says you can handle business if the need arises.

  2. Throw it on with a pair of slacks and you are now business casual.

  3. Throw it on with a pair of slacks, pocket square and tie and you have created a look that will rival a 2 piece traditional suit any day, any time and any place.
This trend has been and continues to move forward especially with the range of fabrics you can choose from. You see the trends in everyplace you look. Television (Sunday Night Footbal in America), movies (Wall Street), special events and gatherings. You name it and you will see them lurking around.

Don't be the last to get on the train.  Join in on the fun....
My recommendations for the festivities approaching: Wool and flannels for Winter and Silk and wool blends for the Spring/Summer
